Are you too Old to become a Nurse?
When we think of nursing students, we often think about youth. This is far from the truth.
I didn’t graduate with my nursing degree until I was 27. While I wouldn’t consider 27 “old,” many people already have their careers set up by this age.
I learned early that life does not come with a manual or playbook. There is no preset time when certain milestones must be achieved in life. 40 and 50-year-olds go back to school for a nursing degree. Do not let society dictate the decisions you make in life. Age is a number, and we’re only as old as we allow ourselves to feel.
Nursing is a stable career choice with dozens of options for job placement and career advancement. Pursuing my doctoral degree, I can tell you nursing has been one of the best decisions I made in my life. If I let external factors drive my decisions, I would still be somewhere second-guessing myself.
Take ownership! You’re never too old!
